Wind Release

An example of a Wind Release technique.

Wind Release (風遁) is one of the five basic elemental nature transformation techniques. It is performed by moulding chakra into as sharp and thin a shape as possible, creating blades in the air. Those blades can be used to cut and slice the opponent, dealing heavy damage if successful. However, because the use of the element requires thinner shapes to deal more damage, an effective user of the element must also have good marksmanship. Alternatively, the wind can be used on a larger scale to create sudden gusts of wind, blowing back projectiles or other shinobi. In the same manner, such techniques can be used to increase the speed of projectiles the user has thrown. Like fire and lightning, wind-natured chakra can also be channelled through a weapon using chakra flow to increase its range and cutting power, though doing so requires great skill.
